This Is How Our Story Began
Taylor Andrews, one of the nations most prestigious cosmetology schools, was founded by award-winning salon owners Larry and Sherri Curtis, who have nearly 30 years of experience in the salon industry.
In 1987 after graduating from college with a degree in business, Larry and his wife Sherri, a Stylist and Makeup Artist, started Dallas Roberts Salons (named after their oldest son). Through smart business practices and incredible customer service, Dallas Roberts grew to three salons, one of which was named to Salon Today’s 200 Hottest Salons list. After becoming disappointed with the quality of new applicants at the salons, Larry decided to make a difference by starting his own cosmetology school, the result of which is Taylor Andrews (named after their youngest son). In just over 15 years, Taylor Andrews has won numerous awards and has earned a reputation as one of the nations finest schools. Taylor Andrews currently has nearly 400 students in West Jordan, Orem, and St. George, Utah.

Rodrick Samuels
Education Director
Rodrick is recognized as a renowned leader in cutting-edge educational methods in clipper cutting concepts and techniques; including the current trend of mechanical shear practices.
Des DeJesus
Academy Director
Des is our dedicated and highly skilled Academy Director at Hair Lab Detroit Barber School. She plays a vital role in supporting students by addressing their concerns and helping them overcome challenges. Des works closely with each student to ensure they achieve their academic, attendance, and personal goals throughout their time with us. In addition to fostering professional barbering skills, she also teaches valuable life skills to help students thrive both inside and outside the classroom, empowering them for long-term success in the industry.

Alicia is the Admissions Director and Financial Aid Support at Hair Lab Detroit Barber School, working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure a smooth enrollment process for prospective students. With a strong cosmetology background, Alicia understands the student experience firsthand and is passionate about guiding others on their educational journey. Her expertise in financial aid and technical processes helps students navigate their options with confidence. Always approachable and resourceful, Alicia is dedicated to helping students succeed every step of the way.

Front Desk Coordinator
Meet Jenna, our friendly and organized front desk coordinator at Hair Lab Detroit Barber School! Jenna is the first point of contact for our students and guests, ensuring everyone feels welcomed and supported. With her excellent communication skills and attention to detail, she keeps our front desk running smoothly and is always ready to assist with scheduling, inquiries, and more. Jenna is passionate about helping others and is excited to be part of our team, contributing to a positive and professional school experience.
Dr. Tamone Wood
Instructor
Dr wood is a hard working instructor and a great asset to our team. Not only is he a licensed barber and barber instructor, but he also has his doctorate degree in barbering as well.
